Weekly Reports [PM: structure in "good news" / "bad news" ]

* Anand:
- report 5:  http://groups.google.com/group/datatol/web/weekly-report-5?_done=%2Fgroup%2Fdatatol%3F
- report 6: http://groups.google.com/group/datatol/web/weekly-report-6

developed pub-app, from Kepler native trace to local SPS db
run table
integrated data uploader code with SPS code
populated invoc tables
use DOM parser for analysis(/reading) OPM trace
dump in local DB
most challenging part was solved: filling out ddep and idep table
wasn't there in the trace; "tricky coding" to capture this --> document this [BL]
replace local with shared DB
uploaded into global DB
FPC-A, FPC-B published

* Biva:
- report:  http://groups.google.com/group/datatol/web/the-taverna-api-client?hl=en
- incomplete dependencies: http://groups.google.com/group/datatol/browse_thread/thread/b32de6182f27d612

code is ready but testing on the actual data has detected glitches in the trace data.
code extracts info from native traces as objects and
now some glitches have been identified having to do with detecting data dependencies from the used and wasGeneratedBy dependencies found in the trace
challenge/issue: outgoing collection --> incoming collection: some mismatch!?

Shawn: "identifier problem" -- how solved?
Gid --> Taverna-wf W(Lid)
Who keeps the Gid ~ Lid association?

Bertram:
1st Suggestion:
Have a "hand-shake place", i.e., the input ports of W: X1, X2, ..., Xk
After download the data into X_i, ask the wf-system:
"Give me the *internal* id of e.g. X_2 ?"

2nd Suggestion:
built global id into the (binary) data
"tatoo" the gid into the shared data itself

3rd Suggestion (Saumen):
separate meta-data file

Paolo suggests also to consider Research Objects as a way to bundle data and metadata (the tattoo) in some standard way.

Paolo:
Download: Gid ~ Local-FilePath
When used in Taverna: Local-FilePath ~ Internal-Id

* Saumen
- report/summary:  http://groups.google.com/group/datatol/web/saumen-07262010?hl=en
- Stiching Traces, Automated: http://groups.google.com/group/datatol/browse_thread/thread/718d70047fa83dee?hl=en

COMAD part (all?mostly?) done
collab UI?
went through the steps: Alice's traces, then Bob's execution (in COMAD)
uploading the trace
using the tool
Benchmark queries

Discussions:

Last week's Next Actions:

0. Looking at the benchmark queries, finalize DToL Schema of SPS (focus on what you need NOW; not for future versions)
==> Anand, Biva, Saumen to interact tightly (daily calls?)
https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=1IopffnHOwPk6v-Pyp_BGQeR3wcSknGFL34EUKpq05Xk&hl=en&authkey=CNnsqdIF
1. Deploy global SPS database (Anand, Biva, Saumen) --> help from Daniel Zinn
2. Finish upload of traces (Kepler, Taverna, COMAD) to the local SPS
3. Upload  local traces to global SPS
4. Answers as many queries as possible from "benchmark queries"
4.1. conceptually analyze what queries can be answered.
4.2. exact SQL queries/stored procedure to answer the queries
4.3. result of SQL queries against test trace

NEXT ACTIONS (wrap-up and post-DToL..)
==> Mentors to check Saumen's stiching proposal

Alice ~ Biva
Alice, Bob ~ Anand
Alice, Bob, Charlie ~ Saumen

- Grande Finale: Demo-cast!
1. Alice runs Wf_A  --- Biva
2. Alice publishes trace (including data) --- Biva
3. Bob finds Alice's data ---
4. Bob imports Alice's data into his workspace/wf-system
5. Bob runs Wf_B(some of A's data)
6. Bob uploads his trace
7. (workaround) Bob links to Alice's data
8. Charlie queries Bob's sources, finds that Alice's wf was also used...
