Bruce - we don't know.  Will ask the question on ask.dataone.org (and answer!!) - in the meantime, Jim will try it and see what happens (he has a 1TBish file to try)
               https://ask.dataone.org/question/114/how-large-a-dataset-can-be-uploaded-to-a-generic-member-node-gmn-via-the-dataone-api/

Jim - I've been following the examples in the documentation, just a few test cases so far

John - good candidate for a best practices document
Laura will ask on the developers list and see what they say and get back with everyone

Agenda:  (changing up the agenda to help flow - suggestions appreciated)  :)

0. Welcome new attendees - introductions:
Hays Barrett - EDAC, maintaining the EDAC Tier 1 MN which will go away when they have the Tier 4 MN up and running; manage track 1 and track 2 EPSCoR data, pulled automatically from the NM EPSCoR portal; create scripts to find new data files added to EPSCoR repo and determine where they should go in DataONE (which repo, like the new Tier 4 MN)
have some DNS issues with the new MN; trying to get into sandbox
        - any data we add to MN in sandbox, does it move to next stage?  No, data does not propagate from one environment to the next.  Would probably be good, though, to wipe out sandbox data before moving to stage.
        - is there documentation that describes how to go from one environment to another?
there is this: http://mule1.dataone.org/OperationDocs/member_node_deployment/mn_checklist.html which is at a pretty high level.  There is probably some more detailed info available that I can't lay hands on right now
        - At NM EPSCoR, there are individual sandboxes for each developer, there is a stage environment which is pretty much like production (not necessarily all the data, for example), there is a production environment

1. Network-wide update and issues affecting MN's as a whole
CCI 1.4.0 upgrade in the near future -
      - provides indexing support for Dublin Core and ORNL Mercury metadata schemas
      - fixes minor replication inefficiencies on the CN if objects slated for replication can't be found on the source MN
upgrades at UTK - shouldn't impact anyone (downtime on Friday (tomorrow))

2. MN Status (MNs present talk about what's going on in their world):  MNs please add anything you would like to address here.
LTER (Mark) - synchronized info from PASTA GMN to staging, but getting old metacat data is problematic (metadata on CN and from MN do not appear the same - related to older version of metacata??); Chris and Ben have been looking at it (this metadata not generated by CN or MN calls); Mark to set up a time to talk with Jing, Chris, Ben and whoever else is interested week of 8 Sept

IARC (Jim) - has ISO19115 metadata, which DataONE currently can't index, but it is much preferred that we work on that (to index the ISO19115 metadata) rather than using Dublin Core (which is a more minimal metadata).  Need definitive namespace of the schema that IARC is using.  GeoNetwork has an OAI-PMH endpoint, requires at least a DC metadata.
Is DC sufficient for indexing?  Yes, but that (indexing) isn't the only goal of metadata - we want to allow researchers to search on metadata as well, so we want the richer metadata if at all possible.
GeoNetwork provides an ISO editor which can create an HTML document.
